A Savin Hill condo recently sold for $ 1,425,000, setting a new record for condo sales in Dorchester, said Joe Castro of Coldwell Banker Realty.
Nestled in the “Over the Bridge” area of Savin Hill, the condo at 186 Grampian Way, Unit 1 broke the previous record – $ 1,349,000 for a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath penthouse in 7 Boulanger Court in August 2020, according to the Dorchester Reporter.
The modern 2,432 square foot home offers three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a powder room. The floors are engineered wood throughout and the tiled entryways radiate warmth.
A striking black and white coffered ceiling in the living room pairs well with the chic gas fireplace which is recessed into a wood plank wall. The dining room shares an open floor plan with the kitchen, which includes a walk-in pantry, quartz countertops, and a waterfall island.
The owner’s bedroom has a private bathroom with his and her wardrobes, marble floors, two sinks each with a sink and a huge walk-in shower with two shower heads and a tub inside.
There is also a 660 square foot finished basement which is not included in the total square footage. A door on this level leads to the fenced patio behind the house.
In an unprecedented year for home sales in Massachusetts, the new record is not shocking. The median price of a single-family home in the state has hit a record $ 555,000 in June. What Castro believes to have made this condo a record is the location and tasteful design.
“The location is great. Lots of character, great parks near the T. So you have urban convenience with a more suburban feel, ”he said. “And then I think the design of the unit has given a lot of thought and you know, it has a lot of really nice finishes that make it desirable. “
