Construction is complete on The West, a 12-story mixed-use building at 547 West 47th Street in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Concrete and StoneCycling and developed by CB Developers, SK Development and Ironstate Development, the 201,000 square foot structure offers 219 residential units ranging from studio to two-bedroom layouts as well as a Cadillac on the ground floor of 40,000 square feet. concession. Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing, and CM & Associates Construction Management served as the general contractor for the property, which is bounded by Eleventh Avenue to the west, 47th Street West to the south and 48th west street to north.
All scaffolding and sidewalk fencing has been taken down since our last update in September, revealing the full showroom level look.
The lower half of the building is clad in dark recycled Dutch brick with many running bond patterns surrounding the industrial-inspired rectangular windows. Sections of the brick facade are subtly pushed away from the lot line, creating long horizontal shadows between each floor. There are 42 different brick shapes and sizes, each individually hand brushed with a subtly reflective glass glaze before firing.
The same cladding can be seen on the shorter annex portion to the east, beyond The West’s main entrance with a landscaped garden below leading to the front doors.
The upper floors have a more prominent architectural design with a staggered array of cantilevered glass clad modular boxes, each topped by a private terrace with glass balustrades. This part of The West is called The Cloud and has a visually lighter appearance in terms of colors and materials.
Residences come in two palettes: a lighter palette with soft, airy tones with polished metallic details, and a gray palette with warm hues with black accents. The houses are equipped with a washer and dryer, central air conditioning, motorized blinds, natural oak floors and high ceilings. Those at The Cloud, on the eighth through twelfth floors, have master bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms lined with Calacatta marble countertops, ceramic wall tiles, Rohl nickel appliances, terrazzo floors, walk-in closets and private terraces for most units. Kitchens feature Miele and Bosch appliances, polished Calacatta marble countertops and backsplashes, and Rohl nickel fixtures.
Units on floors one through seven are en-suite with gray terrazzo flooring, pale gray ceramic wall tiles, polished gray marble countertop over a custom matte black vanity, and matte black fixtures by Rohl. The kitchens have Calacatta marble countertops and backsplashes with custom cabinetry and slimline Bosch and Miele appliances.
The West Residence Club features over 30,000 square feet of amenity space with a lobby and double-height 24-hour concierge desk, a library with a fireplace, a community mail room with a packing station, a chef’s kitchen with a private dining area, a coworking space and a conference room, a double-height gym by The Wright Fit with an outdoor workout terrace, a spa for pets and a dog run, an outdoor rooftop terrace with a swimming pool and cabanas available for purchase, several outdoor kitchens and dining areas with barbecue grills, a bike repair room, a space for storage for each condominium and two fully furnished hotel suites that residents can reserve for their visitors.
Cadillac’s showroom is expected to be completed later this fall with JCT Development serving as the general contractor.
