Money donated by local estate agent helps struggling family renovate their home

A local resident who won an Aldergrove estate agent’s $6,000 prize recently completed renovations to her home, and the mother-of-two was over the moon after seeing the results.

In March of this year, Melissa Mercer received a $5,000 credit for any renovation of her choice and a $1,000 gift card for End of the Roll Langley from Jodi Steeves and her “VIP” team.

The money helped the financially-struggling family do construction and flooring work on their Aldergrove home, which now has a new sliding glass door, front door and renovated staircase.

There are still renovations to be done, which Mercer would have to pay for out of pocket, but the family is grateful for the money that helped them get started.

“It’s absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond my budget to complete what I asked for,” she said.

A Langley Inclusion worker, Mercer lives in Aldergrove with her husband and two boys, aged four and seven. She won the competition after her friend, Annie Smith, whom she met at her son’s school, nominated her for the prize.
