Walking through this Dallas home is a feast for the eyes due to its many details, from the elaborate moldings to the patterns of the hardwood floors and the functional and thoughtful details that reflect a luxurious lifestyle.
Three lots on Lakeside Park in the Caruth Homeplace neighborhood have been combined to create space for this custom-built 8,339-square-foot home, according to listing information.
Listing agent Joe Kobell of Ebby Halliday Realtors said many homes in the Caruth Homeplace area have a “classic, ageless” design. The neighborhood has a homeowners association, as well as tennis courts and a swimming pool, Kobell said.
But this home is unique, Kobell said, because of the quality of its construction — mahogany is inlaid into the wood floor patterns throughout, and the bookcase is adorned with wood, to name a few details.
“The best thing about this house is the quality,” Kobell said.
The majority of the home’s square footage is on one level, with only the separate apartment (which has a separate entrance into the garage) on the second level. The home was custom built in 1990. Kobell said the current sellers, the home’s second owners, have made many updates since owning the property. The house has four bedrooms, six bathrooms and two shower rooms.
The entrance hall of the house has pale blue marble embedded in a diamond pattern on the floors. The foyer leads into a long hallway that spans a considerable length of the house. The formal living room, dining room, and library are all off this long hallway. Two bedrooms are located at one end of the hallway, each with an en-suite bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a domed ceiling decorated with stained glass, Kobell said.
The house has extremely detailed molding throughout, with different patterns in different rooms – like a floral pattern in a powder-coated bathroom that coordinates with the colors and patterns of the botanical wallpaper.
The home’s ornate wood library has a coffered ceiling, fireplace with carved details along the mantel, built-in bookcases, and access to a full bathroom. This room is included in the total number of bedrooms, Kobell said.
The butler’s pantry, which connects to the kitchen, has a unique detail: there’s a small basin with a drain built into the counter that Kobell said was designed to be filled with ice to cool champagne or wine. This part of the butler’s pantry has a pocket door that connects it to the dining area, providing space to serve food or pass items (like that chilled bottle of champagne) into the dining area.
The kitchen is spacious with ample counter space and plenty of storage cabinets. It connects to a breakfast room that overlooks the outdoor patio. The family room (or boudoir), a cozy space with a fireplace, is easily accessible from the kitchen and the breakfast room. The master suite is located after the family room, with two full bathrooms and a bonus room next to the bedroom that could have many uses.
The house has a four-car garage and a guest apartment with a kitchen and a full bathroom. Kobell estimated that the separate apartment is about 1,250 square feet of the home’s total 8,339 square feet.
The home at 1 Lakeside Park is listed at $3,550,000.
