Demi Lovato’s Los Angeles home can’t be mistaken for anyone else, with eclectic furnishings and playfully decorated rooms reflecting the singer-songwriter’s dynamic personality.

“It’s totally different because the last house I owned for myself — I had no vision for it,” Lovato told Architectural Digest during a web-exclusive tour of the modern farmhouse. of 8,500 square feet that she bought in 2020. “It was just this empty, white, minimalist but comfortable house… I really liked living there, but at the same time, it was empty.”

This time around, Lovato collaborated with Argyle Design founders Kat Bell and James Drew, who helped fill the home with fun and stylish touches, like a huge color-changing cloud lamp by Rania Peet that hangs beneath a psychedelic mural by Jen Stark. .

“I was in a place where I wanted everything in my house to be super trippy,” Lovato reportedly said. “I wanted it to be a bit psychedelic and super vibey, but I also wanted it to have a good welcoming energy for when I have people around.”

Bell dubbed certain unexpected objects like butt vases, breast-shaped salt and pepper shakers, and mushroom-shaped stools as “LOL moments” to be found among the interior’s maximalist aesthetic.

Lovato enlisted the help of Eva Seta, director of communications at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, to line her home with works by emerging artists from underrepresented communities.

In her Gucci Lilies-wallpapered kitchen, a Lilian Martinez painting of a character’s legs hangs in the designated breakfast nook, while Yasmine Nasser Diaz’s ‘Truth or Dare’ artwork draws attention in the dining room.

“I wanted it to be a very weird environment,” the singer said. “There’s also a lot of female empowerment involved, so keeping pieces representative of the female figure was very important to me. We live in a world that prevents you from honoring female bodies, so I want that to be in your face in my house.”

Evidence of Lovato’s rock and roll sensibility pervades the house. In the master bedroom, Atra’s chic Beluga armchairs (where his guitar rests) sit alongside a silvered bronze cheetah. A “glam room” becomes an optimal space to get ready, equipped with a bowl of hair salon shampoo and decorated with a neon sign reading “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”. The pool house was even transformed into a recording studio, and it was there that she conceptualized her latest album”Saint-Fvck“, according to the publication.

The sprawling six-bedroom home also features plenty of soothing spaces with a backyard featuring an outdoor kitchen, hot tub, fire pit, secluded patio, and netting for its well-being. beloved Yorkipoos, Batman and Cinderella, can walk around.

Glad to see how comfortable it turned out, Lovato said, “I have no reason to leave, it’s exactly everything I wanted in a house.”
