“It certainly has cleaner lines, but [the clients]did not want to become ultra-modern. They like softer, warmer, softer finishes,” she says. Leon and her husband co-own and run E2 Homes Ltd., which designed and built the new five-bedroom, five-bathroom, 5,000 square foot family home.

Leon kept the kitchen palette bright but textured by layering white materials, from brick-patterned porcelain tiles on the backsplash to shaker-style cabinetry, a wood slatted ceiling, cast stone countertops and wooden pendant lights. metal. A charcoal hue on the island, window trim, and pantry door—Benjamin Moore’s cheater heart—grounds the space and adds soft contrast. Exposed oak beams lend warmth, complementing wooden features and wide plank floors throughout the house.

Arched doors add a touch of traditional grandeur and balance linear and angular elements. “I really wanted to incorporate arches into the house just to soften it up,” says Leon.

An extra-large island serves as a multi-purpose surface for food prep, guest visits, breakfast, kids’ homework and more. “Chairs and stools were very important to these guys, to make sure everything was really comfortable,” says Leon. The teak and woven leather counter stools from CF Interiors do the trick and are also easy to wipe clean. “They have three younger children under 10, so we wanted to make sure we were looking for fabrics that were durable and easy to clean,” adds Leon.

The family also entertains frequently, so double ovens, sinks and dishwashers were essential. A built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator reveals a glass door wine compartment, while a hidden pantry houses a coffee station and additional freezer.

“It’s an artist’s dream kitchen,” says Leon. “It has everything you need to cook a quick meal and everything you need to entertain 20 people very easily.”
